Hello everyone, my job allows me to travel around 2-3 months every year so I've backpacked different routes and countries since 2018. I remember when I started backpacking how I would meet many people from varied backgrounds and nationalities. A good deal of Europeans, Canadians, Australians, Israelis, and some U.S; ith a somewhat even distribution depending on where you went. Well, I've seen a gradual increase since 2021 (after COVID) of U.K (specially English) backpackers to the point where at this instant I find myself travelling some countries in Central America (Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua) and probably 60% of the people I've met are English, 30% Dutch and the remaining 10% are other nationalities (mainly German and French). I was wondering if anybody has had the same experience or I'm just an outlier? Also if someone who's British reads this, why has backpacking become so popular in the U.K to the point where Brits are everywhere? Again, British fellas have always been there when travelling, but in my opinion, nowadays there are just too many (usually travelling in groups) and it makes socializing at hostels harder and uninteresting as British travellers usually have a well-defined behavior and don't mix too much with non-brits (obviously I'm generalizing and not every Brit is like this). #nature #activity source
