Told the kids (11, 9, 7) we needed to go to the library to return books. (They are on spring break). I told them could choose ps5 games there and play this weekend. 7yo and 11yo were excited but still didn’t get ready to leave.
They don’t like leaving the house in general. I usually get books for them when they’re at school. They do love reading books but they are just homebodies and have fun at home in general.
My oldest ask for yellow paint. I told him we can get it today but that requires us to be changed and get out of the house first. He went back to painting. My middle child was playing the piano but she was changed. 40 mins of asking them to change I had enough and said “Nevermind. We’re just going to clean today. It’s perfect that you’re all home.”
So they had to clean instead. Half way through. My middle child asked when we’re going yo the library. I said “we’re not going. I already started the laundry and we can’t leave. We’ll go some other day.” I don’t believe doing this will even get them to listen and get ready faster. I just did it cuz I felt like they were wasting my time.
