my meter on gauging men's interest is super broken

I'm a 40F, and i THOUGHT that this guy who's in his mid 40s was interested in me. But at the end of the meeting, he did this super awkward fist bump, handshake somewhat facetious combo, and then we parted ways.

So we took a professional development class together last semester (we're both in grad school). We were in the same group, and that was nice. And then over Spring Break I asked if he knew of anyone who'd be willing to help me with a side project of my own. He volunteered himself, which was very nice, and he said he was excited to work on this. So I thought great. And then I noticed he came to a performance of mine (related to the project somewhat) unprompted, in-person. He does these city sign-offs in his emails depending where he's located while traveling. So he'd tell me where he is at various points when we'd email back and forth this semester. Also his language is pretty casual and warm, not too formal in letter speak. So i thought "hmm, that's rather unusual. I wonder if he's interested in me in some way."

I mean he's cute for sure! And I don't know enough about him, but maybe because we're working on a project, I don't want to make things weird. So I just would be focused on the project. We met today in-person after a while. The meeting lasted only 30 min, but it just kind of wound down naturally. And he tells me as we're both headed out, that he traveled all the way just to meet for this meeting, because his earlier morning meetings moved to remote.

I mean, the fist bump handshake attempt you don't do to someone you like more than a friend, or have a crush on, typically. So maybe he just wanted to get out of the house I dunno.

Anyway, just venting and saying my meter is broken. :(
