Girls trip to California
Hi everyone! My three best friends and I (all 24F) are planning a trip to California this June. We’re all from New England and have never been, so we’d love some advice on where to stay based on the vibe we’re looking for.
We were originally thinking Laguna Beach or Malibu. We’re hoping for a relaxed, beachy atmosphere but still want to be close to shops, restaurants, and some nightlife. We know California (especially coastal areas) can be expensive, but we’d really appreciate any input from people who’ve been or have recommendations.
Our non-negotiables: we want to be close to the beach, ideally in a walkable area, and somewhere that really lets us experience the full “California vibe” we’re totally okay with being a bit touristy lol

Thank you everyone for the thoughtful replies! So from what I’ve seen a car is absolutely needed. And now me and my friends are looking into:
San Diego
Santa Barbara
Potentially still Laguna Beach
I keep seeing people mention “June Gloom” is it bad enough where we should rethink going to Cali in June? We want to go for sun and beach so if it’s as cloudy as people say, we may need to rethink. Thank you all!
