getting back into camping & need help with definitions
Hey everyone.
I used to go to summer camp when I was younger and we'd hike out to campsites about 1.5 hours away from the main base and would do an overnight outdoor camping trip that really felt like we were camping out in the wilderness. My favorite camping memory was hiking out and being at a spot along the hudson river in upstate new york.
I've since gone on 3 camping trips as an adult, and with every campground I've been to other groups' tents seem to be very close to teach other and you drive and park at the campsite so everyone has cars out and it is a lot less secluded and I don't get that same being out in the wilderness feeling.
What do I need to do to get into the scene were you hike out to a place to camp, is there a name for that style of camping? Are there places where I can book a campsite to hike to for experiences like that?
