spent 3 years building this, then destroyed it filming a video for it 💀

so ive been building this portable monitor thing for a while now. spent like 3 years on it. got the first working prototype 3 months ago and then guess what happens

was filming it laying on the table trying to get some cool shots and my phone just slips right out of my hand straight onto the panel 💀 cracked it instantly. classic.

couldnt just replace the glass either because its laminated straight onto the display panel (optical bonding), so i had to order a whole new panel with the glass already on it. took a while to arrive, set me back almost a month just waiting on the part lol. at least now i keep 2 spare panels on hand in case i smash another one 🙃

didnt wanna toss the prototype so i took the whole thing apart and swapped the panel myself. honestly the worst part was getting the cable fed back through the thin aluminium slots in the housing without wrecking anything. filmed the repair the time it happened. took way longer but finally it works again

anyone else ever destroyed something theyd just finished building? need to know im not the only one 😅
