Bring younger sibling along for college drop off or get a sitter?

When we dropped our oldest off for college back in 2021 there were still travel restrictions and we were going out of state so we only traveled with her. Second kid didn't go to college. So now here we are in 2026 getting ready for another college drop off but this time it is only about 90 minutes from home. We figure we will be gone for about 6 hours when you account for the drive there, the drive back, and taking our son shopping and out to eat.

We have 2 younger kids. A 15 year old girl who will be away at cheer camp and a 12 year old girl who can't stay home alone yet because she is more along the lines of an 7 or 8 year old intellectually due to some delays. The soon-to-be college freshman said he's cool either way but he's my kid who NEVER complains so it's hard to know how he really feels. Without his sister there all of the focus will be on him, which I know will be nice given that we have a large family. We are really considering leaving little sister home and getting a sitter for the day, but I can't help but wonder if that makes us bad people for not taking her along when it's a pretty short trip. I know our 15 year old would want to go if she didn't have cheer camp so are we being jerks if we leave the 12 year old home?
