Considering a long overdue sleeping bag upgrade. What is really worth it?
I’ve been backpacking for a little over a decade and have been through a lot of gear. I have upgraded a lot of my stuff and have developed a really great “ultralight” set up that is pretty solid for me these days. But I have not upgraded my sleeping bag in probably 8 years and I think I’m ready to go for it.
Currently I use either a lil cheap “summer bag” (which I will probably keep for warmer trips) or when I go into the mountains and expect low temps I use an old “hike n bike down 0 degree” bag. It is good but is by far the biggest piece of gear in my kit.
I would love to upgrade to a warm down bag (or quilt) that packs down small and saves me space and weight in my pack. I’m mentally chained to a 0 degree bag for some reason.
Could I get recommendations for a super nice “buy it for life” bag i can upgrade to that will solve these needs?
