Hello, I don’t know if this is normal but it’s the second time it has happened. We purchased Budapest -> Vienna and then Vienna -> Prague tickets online a few months ago. Both times no one checked our tickets, we just got on board. The thing is that there isn’t even any type of special info on the tickets that would make it impossible for someone who doesn’t have one to board the train (besides the seats of course). So I’m wondering is this normal? The trains were mostly empty too, we would have gotten away with just boarding it without a ticket.
(On the same note, no one checked our transportation tickets in Vienna either, my country doesn’t run on this “trust system” so it’s strange to me how easy it is to get away with no paying.) #travel source
