GOSPEL VERSE. REFLECTION. & PRAYER
REFLECTION
Jesus tells the parable of the persistent friend who knocks at midnight, asking for bread. The neighbor eventually rises—not out of friendship but because of the man's shameless persistence. Ask, and it shall be given. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Persistence in prayer is not about wearing God down. The Father is infinitely more generous than any reluctant neighbor. Rather, persistent prayer transforms us. It deepens our desire, purifies our motives, and strengthens our trust. God sometimes delays not to deny but to prepare our hearts to receive what He longs to give.
Jesus concludes with a stunning promise: if earthly fathers, flawed as they are, give good gifts to their children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask? The ultimate gift of prayer is not any created thing but the Holy Spirit Himself—God's own life dwelling within us, teaching us to cry "Abba, Father" from the depths of our being.

Prayer 🙏
Generous Father, teach me to persist in prayer with confidence in Your goodness. I ask above all for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Come, fill my heart and make me a temple of Your living presence.
Jesus, I trust in You. AMEN!
