The two week notice is outdated and should no longer be the standard
There was a time when people worked 20+ years at their job, had pensions, and generally didn’t change jobs unless they moved or changed careers altogether. That is no longer the case. Companies don’t have the loyalty for employees anymore and haven’t for a very long time. Everyday we see layoffs at large companies where their profit margins are huge and they are doing just fine. It has become common knowledge that your employer does not care about you and your coworkers are not your friends.
They don’t give you notice when laying you off, why should you be expected to? I know this is an unpopular opinion, hence the sub. You may feel you are letting the company down or leaving them in the lurch but realize they would boot you to the curb for a 1% stock change. #conversation
