YSK that most plastic films are easily recyclable! Why YSK: Plastic waste is a massive global environmental problem, and a lot of it needlessly goes into landfills and elsewhere in the environment. Recycling it is a lot easier than most people think. Even if your local waste/recycling collection doesn’t take plastic bags and films, they are very much recyclable. They just can’t go in with everything else because they shred easily and jam up the sorting machinery. Recyclable plastic films include grocery bags, (clean) food wrap, plastic sheeting, bread bags, zipper bags, and just about any thin plastic polyethylene film. also packing materials like air pillows, bubble wrap and bubble mailers (such as from Amazon), the wrappers around to-go utensils, the overwrap around bales of paper towels and toilet paper and water bottles and seemingly everything else. it doesn’t have to have a symbol on it to be recyclable. It’s as easy as stashing them in an empty grocery bag and taking it to the grocery store on your next trip - most stores have a bin for it, it’s not just for bags. Once you start doing it, you’ll likely be shocked at just how plastic film would otherwise go in your trash. And by being neatly bundled together and not requiring sorting, they’re much more likely to be recycled because it’s a higher quality feed stock.
