My 6yo has been suspended again for punching another child.
I could use advice from other parents who have been through something similar.
My 6-year-old son has been suspended from school again for punching another child. This isn't the first incident, and we've already had meetings with the school and tried to put strategies in place.
I absolutely agree that hitting another child is not okay. We talk about it, we discuss what he could have done instead, and there are consequences at home. But clearly what we're doing isn't enough, because we're here again.
I'm angry. I'm disappointed. I'm exhausted. And honestly, I'm starting to feel like I don't know how to parent this properly.
He's not a "bad kid". He's loving, funny, affectionate and can be absolutely wonderful. But when he gets overwhelmed or angry at school, something seems to happen where he goes from 0 to hitting very quickly.
For parents who have dealt with repeated aggression/punching at school:
**What actually helped?** What consequences did you use at home that actually made a difference? And what the hell do you do with a suspended 6-year-old when you have nowhere to leave them? #relationships source
