Eid al-Adha (Hari Raya Idul Adha)

Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى) is a holiday in the Islamic religion. This day commemorates the event of sacrifice, namely when the Prophet Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Isma'il as a form of obedience to Allah. Before Abraham sacrificed his son, Allah replaced Ishmael with a sheep. To commemorate this event, livestock is slaughtered as a sacrifice every year.

Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th of the month of Zulhijah or 70 days after Eid. Today, along with Tasyrik days, is a day that is forbidden for Muslims to fast. On the day of Eid al-Adha, Muslims gather in the morning and perform Eid prayers together in the field or at the mosque. After the prayer, the sacrificial animal is slaughtered. One third of the animal meat is consumed by the family who sacrifices, while the rest is donated or distributed to others. Sometimes Eid al-Adha is also known as Eid al-Kurban or Eid al-Fitr.

One of the main tests in Ibrahim's life was accepting Allah's order to sacrifice his beloved son. This command was received by Ibrahim through a recurring dream. Ibrahim knew that this was an order from Allah and he told his son, as stated in the Quran.

"So when the child reached (the age) able to try with him, (Ibrahim) said, "O my son! Verily I dreamed that I slaughtered you. Then think about what you think!” He (Ismail) replied, “O my father! Do what (Allah) commands you; God willing, you will find me among those who are patient. ”
— As-Saffat [37]:
During the preparation period, Satan tempted Ibrahim and his family by trying to prevent them from carrying out Allah's commands. Ibrahim then cast out the demon by throwing pebbles at him. To commemorate their rejection of Satan, stones are thrown in the stoning of the jumrah during the pilgrimage.

When carrying out the slaughter, Ibrahim's knife could not injure Ismail. Allah then replaced Ismail with an animal to be slaughtered.

"So when both of them had surrendered and he (Ibrahim) laid his son on (his) temple, (to carry out Allah's command). Then We called him, “O Ibrahim! Truly, you have confirmed the dream. Indeed, thus We reward those who do good. In fact, this is really a real test. And We ransomed the child with a large sacrifice.
