Hi! I was wondering if anyone has experience with either a mini-stepper or a home stair climber.
I only go hiking for a few months each year (2–4 times a month, for less than 6 months of the year) because of the weather, but I'd like to maintain my fitness so I can tackle higher elevations or longer hikes when hiking season comes around again.
I go to a climbing gym 2–3 times a week year-round (it's not a commercial gym, so there's no cardio equipment—just the climbing walls and a small amount of training equipment). Even so, I notice that my ability to hike steep hills drops a lot between hiking seasons.
So I started thinking about buying a stair climber (I found one for around €70), but then I also came across mini-steppers. The stair climber seems like the more hiking-specific option to me, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried either of them. Did it help maintain or improve your hiking fitness? Was it worth it? I was thinking this could be an easy way to stay in movement at least a bit, like when I am watching TV, but I haven't seen much posted about stair climbers for this purpose, just more for general fitness/losing weight #hiking #activity source
