Closure is overrated. Most people don't need an answer, they need to stop waiting for one.

People talk about closure as if one final conversation will make everything settle into place.

Sometimes it does.

But I think a lot of the time we aren't actually waiting for information. We're waiting for an answer that changes how the past feels.

An apology that makes the damage reasonable. An explanation that makes the disappearance understandable. A final conversation that confirms we mattered.

And sometimes that answer simply never comes.

At some point, continuing to wait becomes its own kind of attachment.

Maybe closure is not finally understanding what happened.

Maybe it's the moment the unanswered question stops controlling what happens next.
