Too many people in the animal rescue community are elitist
They want you to fill out a mountain of paperwork. They want you to justify why you are allowed to have an animal. They want you to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will give the animal a nearly perfect life. Meanwhile , animals are being put down at astounding rates. As the economy worsens , it will only get worse. A senior dog on death row would not mind living in someone's dumpy apartment. But like everything else , the elitist try to gatekeep animal ownership.
I get you need to be somewhat careful. But what we have today is overkill and indicative of the fact that some people build their entire identity around animal rescue elitism.
