How come Doom is holding up so well?
I recently played the original Doom from 1993 again and that game just holds up so incredibly well.
From the first moment I start playing again, it just feels good, it plays good, it sounds good and it is insanely satisfying.
There are games between then and now that were highly praised in their time, yet don't feel good to play today. Yet Doom manages to do it (and Doom II as well).
What's makes it hold up so well?
