In, the Philippines we celebrated Christmas by December 25, this feast is constantly celebrated every now and then as a tradition. Some member's of the family from different places are most likely reunited for some reunions as well. Here, you can find different foods, like litchon or the roasted pig as the star of the night and some rice cakes...
But I have to confess, that we celebrated Chinese New year too.. as I can't deny my father's blood who runs everywhere inside my cells..and I'm guilty beyond verdict if I don't celebrate it.. In Chinese, we do not have the Christmas thing but we have a Chinese New Year, where we say 'Kung hei Fat Choi" or Kung Hei Fat Chie! Kung Hei fat choi shoti, or Kung Fat Chie Aschi...shoti is brother or Aschi is sister.. And we celebrated it in first lunar calendar which ever the Moon comes first in the calendar... The old and native story about it,, how the Chinese New Year began,, is that, the dragon named "how long".. "how how" means the king of the king's and long is an "old" dragon.. the old dragon has believed to appeared, from the deepest part of the ocean fell in love with the beauty of the moon, and had able to reached the moon on its first lunar of the year, thereafter all the blessings has been showered upon to everyone including the beginning of crops which is to be harvested.. bringing prosperity to everyone. So next year will be celebrating it by January 25, So from that details, we have to decorate or served some, ramen or noodles in the tables for longevity or long life, fishes, some rice cake like tikoy and butchi, siomai, dumplings, congee for light and positive energy - to have a sticky and prosperous connection with the one who will eat it and some red lights for power, and lots of noise of dragon drum- beat to cast away some "evil, and jealousy" along the ways..we also give some foods to the death to continuously watched and guide over us... so we've got so many traditions, where foods and faces of people can also be interpreted. The rest are Epic..
In addition, we also buy some anti evil catcher and some anik anik believed to be our agimat in Filipino or Piyao in Chinese,,But "I only practiced those things that my mind can mentally-abled to comprehend with". So this are just some of the traditions, that I really love to enjoyed, reminiscing my bloodline....
