Courts should start letting “clean” drug dealers off with a slap on the wrist

I recently read a news story about a young man caught with kilos of cocaine, mushrooms, ketamine etc. he had scales, a pill press, packaging and… no fentanyl. Nothing laced, no remnants on the packing gear, nothing. Drug dealers are pushed by positive and negative incentives and for years they’ve been economically motivated to either deal with fentanyl and the like or at least look the other way. Results have been disastrous with deaths skyrocketing while actual drug use decreases. The only way to make a dent in the contaminated supply is if dealers know that as long as they are vigilant and run a “tight ship” they’ll be able to make some money without risking decades in jail. (Those sentences being reserved for the ones who do not)
