Is there another game that manages to emulate the style of exploration/gameplay of The Alters?
For those who've played it, I'm referring to the outdoor sections where you have a limited amount of time to explore, find resource nodes, set up infrastructure, plan out your day, etc. There's just something about that feeling of gradually opening up the map, mapping out efficient use of my pylons, figuring out how much more I can squeeze out of the day before having to get back to base, that really scratches some itch. I like how I can fully explore each map and have all my stations set up to where I can just sit back and let the resources flow in right before moving to a new area to do it all again.
Now that I think about it, the Pikmin games have a similar appeal, though they lean more heavily on the exploration aspect than the resource management one. And though I haven't played Death Stranding, the idea of going from trudging over mountains to building convenient ziplines and roadways is a great way to feel like you're progressing by saving time and energy.
I would love if there was some kind of DLC for The Alters that was just more maps to explore, each with their own challenges and objectives. #games source
