Struggling to be sincere with people

Hi! I'm looking for some advice on how to shift my internal narrative around talking to people.

The problem is: I really struggle to make meaningful connections with people because I'm scared of offending them or saying smth antisocial (being an immigrant feeds into that a bit because of cultural differences). Because of that, in conversations at work or at my dancing classes I resort to standard phrases and questions, that are shallow and don't lead the conversation anywhere. And I fully understand that unless I start saying things that I mean (while still being respectful ofc) and care about, I won't be able to find people that I vibe with, but this fear of offending or overstepping boundaries is just too much, because I'm scared that then people wouldn't want to be around me at all. Vicious cycle.

If you had a similar experience, how did you manage to overcome this fear or persuade yourself to open up despite it?
