Rubio Monocoat acting like Suede
Does anybody have any insight why my table top would be acting like suede for lack of a better term? As you can see in the video when I swipe my finger in one direction it appears to have a slightly different color and texture, but as I bring my finger back across in the opposite direction it “erases” itself like a suede couch.
Walnut sanded to 180, water popped, then sanded to 180 again. Rubio was applied with an old credit card, buffed with a white scotchbrite and then all excess was removed with cotton t shirt rags.
Shop temp was between 55 and 60 F and Rubio is stored in a closet indoors.
I’ve used Rubio on all sorts of furniture pieces and never seen this happen.
Not sure if I just let it cure completely over the next week sand and try again?
