Your Name is not a good film
As someone who likes anime Your Name sucked. There was 30 minutes of filler before it revealed the plot. And that's a problem when the filler is in an 106 minute movie because that's about 1/4 of the movie wasted by filler. Most Ghibli films got to the point a lot sooner and didn't feel like they had filler.
Your Name wasted 30 minutes with how slow a start it had, imagine if Iron Man was an hour long and Tony Stark became Iron Man 20 minutes into the movie wouldn't that suck?
Many anime series have slow starts yes but a movie is different because it's made to feel like a one hit Your Name does not feel like a one hit. it feels like a series in an hour and as we saw with the last Airbender movie that doesn't work it's not good.
And when it gets to the point 30 mins later? It's not that big of a deal it's just freaky Friday but anime and romance. it's not great it feels slow and boring.
While I don't particularly like one piece's pacing or the show itself at least it has 1000ish episodes to flesh out. Your Name is a movie designed without a sequel in mind the animation is fine but it doesn't excuse the amount of filler. Plenty of anime have filler episodes but Your Name has canon filler that you are forced to watch to get the Your Name experience.
If you like me thought it would be good it's not really it feels slow but if you don't mind that sure let's pretend the plot is interesting to you (which it isn't to me) it might be worth your time.
