Back in the day Randy Rhodes was THE rock guitarist. Combining classical guitar, rhythmic breaks and long form solos into legendary jams. Van Halen on the other hand would only break into the same tired short bursts of solos. Don’t get me started on his “mailed in” riffs during the Van Hagar days.
