A Pentagon assessment found that three United States strikes in Yemen in April 2025 killed 153 civilians and injured 243, according to an unclassified review obtained by the Associated Press and sent to Congress. 🕊️

The review covered strikes conducted during the United States campaign against the Houthis, which began on March 15, 2025. U.S. officials said the operation aimed to reduce Houthi capabilities after attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

The deadliest incident in the assessment was the Ras Isa port strike, which killed 80 people and injured 171. Human Rights Watch said the port is a major route for Yemen's commercial imports and humanitarian assistance, meaning damage there could also affect aid and supplies. ⚓

The Pentagon said its assessment relied on intelligence, imagery and open-source reporting. The department said it would submit its wider annual civilian-casualty report in the coming months, while rights groups have called for independent investigations of the April strikes.
