Friends, I visited Montañita, Ecuador in February. I stayed about a month as a volunteer in a hostel. I was absolutely in love with the small coastal village vibe. You didn’t need to text your friends, just walk out and you’re bound to find them. I love how you always saw the same locals at the beach parties.
Ever since then, I have been in Buenos Aires. I am absolutely in love with this city. However, I have been craving that small coastal village beach vibe. Does anyone have any recommendations in South America or even Central America for something like this?
My friend recommended me Arica, Chile. I have also been thinking about Palomino, Colombia. I met a friend in Montañita who loved San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
I am open to options on the western hemisphere. I’m specifically looking for the small, coastal, local, social, relaxing but nightlife heavy beach town. I know it sounds very picky, but I also know there’s plenty out there. The less touristy the better, but beggars can’t be choosers.
