Not sure if this is a hack or we are just kidding ourselves that this is a more developmentally beneficial tool, but I would love to hear from others about their experience and thoughts on our regular use of audio over screens. Particularly curious if anyone knows of any research on the impact of audio entertainment for toddlers. Feel free to tell us we are parenting geniuses as well.😉
I'll start by saying we aren't a screen free household by any means. Our 3yo twin girls watch movies and shows on the weekend. They started with Ms Rachel as infants. We didn't want to have them catotconically glued to the screen so started playing the audio to their favorite Ms Rachel videos all the time and they LOVED it. They listened and sang along peacefully in every car ride and at home often. We now listen to movies they enjoy and sesame Street episodes frequently too. They are often engaged way more with the audio and sing along and act out /do lines from the movies. It feels better than screen time. It's been an incredibly useful tool. Sometimes it feels like we hacked the system. Hopefully this is a good thing and maybe worth a shot if you are looking for an alternative to screen time! #relationships
