Some background information that is required. I, 24M, recently became single after an extended relationship that I won’t go into detail here. Since then I’ve realised that I had pushed people who were my friends away (not intentionally) and haven’t developed any kind of connections with people during that whole period (6 1/2 yrs). Everyone I did have a connection with was directly connected to my now Ex.
Now, it’s a struggle to find anyone to even be a proper friend or someone to talk to or do things with. I’m slowly rebuilding my friendships with my friends from highschool but they Live so far away and those who do still Live where I am don’t really want to do anything with me. Yea we can talk and interact online but it’s not the same.
I don’t know if it’s me socially or what I’m doing wrong but it’s been a few months now and everything is just lonely, quiet, and slow. Though I’ve come along way personally since the separation there is that void of a lack of interaction with others.
I am thankful I have my family, and I guess I can talk to co-workers but nothing ever develops it’s all transactional and there isn’t really any friendship conversation(?) for a lack of a better term.
I’m making this post as I’m lost and saw another post here so said “stuff it, I need help.” Social interaction for me has been difficult but it was definitely easier in school where as now, it’s like I’ve never talked to a human before.
I have hobbies and am working on myself still, so I am starting to get back out and about, but again there is no connection with anyone I talk to.
Obligatory mention, yes I’m diagnosed with Asperger’s. No I don’t let it define me, and am willing to get out of my comfort zone, but it’s about time I at least ask someone for help.
