No OSB or Plywood behind vinyl siding-just pink foam board-just curious on opinions from builders in coastal SC
Hi everyone! House was built in 1987. Two stories. Survived Hurricane Hugo but inland. Today we were having some work done and the contractor told us about it being weird that there’s no structural sheathing. No wood but it’s pink foam board. There are metal straps crossed in X’s though, and I feel sure there is structural wood in the corners. I’m just curious why someone would build a house like this? We knew the person we bought the house from but unfortunately, not her husband that built the house. I feel that he wouldn’t have went the cheap way to build the house. Maybe more energy efficient? Thanks for your help! #home
