Mount Adams in late April

I’m thinking about doing Mount Adams (or something similar in the presidential range) with a friend in late April.

I know the weather can be unpredictable and conditions can be harsh. From what I’ve read, a true winter hike up Adams or Washington can be downright dangerous, but summer is beautiful.

How are conditions typically in Late April?

For reference, we’re both big able bodied guys in pretty good shape with a decent amount of Appalachian hiking experience. I’ve done lengthy solo winter hikes in both the smokys and the Adirondacks, but never New Hampshire. And we’ve been all over the national parks out west. But the internet seems to paint a grim picture of the presidential range due to the wacky weather patterns. We plan on having microspikes, poles, layers, etc.

What do you think? Is late April deep enough into spring where it should be manageable, or is it foolish to go up that time of year?

Thanks
