I’m currently looking to upgrade my CPU because I’ve had a bottleneck with my i5-10600K since switching to a 5060 Ti for 1440p gaming. The problem is that I’m currently on DDR4 RAM, so I first looked for a good CPU compatible with AM4, and I came across the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which would only require changing my motherboard for one. I’m planning on a B550. But I also saw the 7800X3D, which is better and at practically the same price, except that I’d then also need to look for a different motherboard, and notably DDR5 RAM to go with it, which must be expensive in 2026 because of the price increases…
In your opinion, which option is more cost-effective? And please don’t hesitate to correct me if I’ve forgotten to take certain details into account!
