Hey, we just bought a new home and it has some very nice hardwood doors that were poorly painted white at some point. I would like to strip the paint off as it's just one layer of what appears to be a pretty cheap latex paint.
Some of it has already been peeling off in small bits in the bathroom. I think the steam from the shower caused this. Would getting a steamer be a good option to peel the rest of the paint off?
I tired my heat gun on part it and the paint just seemed to liquify and didn't peel off easy like the other parts had. You can see this on the edge of one of the pictures linked below. Would like to avoid chemical strippers if possible. I used gallons of Citristrip in our last home to get layers and layers of old paint off the moldings of out 1911 craftsman. Hoping I can avoid that mess for just a single layer of paint.
The home was built in the early 90s, so no worry about lead paint. Just want to do this as easily as possible.
