Good afternoon, my dear friends. Today was a very emotional day at work. I represented a young child, only 7 years old, who had been suffering from violence in her own home. Situations like this are heartbreaking, because every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and protected.
When I first saw her, it was at the hospital. She had been brought in with severe injuries to her head and feet. Seeing such a young child in that condition is something that stays with you. It reminds you just how vulnerable children are and how important it is for someone to stand up for them.
Even though children naturally belong with their parents, there are moments when their safety must come first. Today, it was decided that the best solution was to remove her from that dangerous environment. She is now living with her grandparents, where she will hopefully find the care, safety, and stability every child deserves. The parents have also been sentenced for what happened and for the use of drugs.
Itβs never an easy decision to separate a child from their family, but sometimes protecting a childβs well-being is the most important step toward giving them a chance at a healthier and brighter future. Today was a difficult day, but I am grateful that this little girl now has a safer place to grow and heal.
But donβt relax too much, now that Iβm home, Court of Social Media is officially in session . Iβll be reviewing posts, checking comments, and handing out imaginary awards for Best Drama, Best Excuse, and Most Suspicious Emoji Use. πβοΈπ±
