Looking for advice on the best doweling jig for a crib build
I’m building a crib with a lot of evenly spaced vertical slats, and I’m planning to join the slats to the top and bottom frame rails using dowels. The slats will be 5/8" thick x 1 3/8" wide, and they’ll need to be positioned very consistently and repeatably across the entire build (photo attached for reference).
One complication is that the slats will not be perfectly flush to either face of the frame — they’ll be offset/revealed slightly — so accurate referencing is important.
I’m mainly looking for:
\-Repeatable accuracy across many identical joints
\-Reliable centering/offset registration
Right now I’m looking at the JessEm and the Dowelmax. Does anyone here have experience with either of these for repetitive furniture work like this? Would one be better suited for accurately spacing and aligning crib slats?
Would appreciate any real-world feedback before I spend the money. Thanks! #diy
