I wanna visit Philly from Montreal but don't know if it's better to take the 81 to the 476, I've done it before but only to Allentown and it felt long but the 81 and 476 had 0 traffic at all which was nice. But I don't like how 476 has no ditch, meaning it's just a concrete barrier in the middle, makes it really unsafe in case someone cuts you off and you need to go into the ditch.
At least 81 is separated for most of the way, you can't even see the other side since there's trees and hills in between. The scenery on 81 is also really nice and there won't be any traffic, maybe a bit in Scranton but that's about it. The 81 only really picks up after Scranton all the way to the 77. Idk how the 476 is nowadays in terms of traffic though, I've heard it's pretty sluggish on weekends.
Or I can take 87 to the Garden State Parkway and then find my way to the 95 and take that into Philly. I like 87, it's very scenic but i've never driven on it past Albany and I've heard it get very congested on Sunday's since all the NYC folks are going home from their country houses.
Same with the 95 between Staten Island and Philly I've heard it's very hit and miss, sometimes it moves but other times it's slow. #travel #activities source
