The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday disputed the statement issued by the G7 Foreign Ministers regarding the situation in the South China Sea.
ââThe G7 foreign ministersâ meeting insisted on manipulating the China-related agenda, ignoring the facts and confusing right from wrong, wantonly interfering in Chinaâs internal affairs,â said Wang Wenbin, spokesperson, Chinese Foreign Ministry, during a press conference.
âImmediately stop interfering in other countriesâ internal affairs and undermining other countriesâ development,â Wang added.
I n a communique after their ministerial meeting in Italy on Friday, the G7 Foreign Ministers expressed their opposition to Beijing's "dangerous" actions in the South China Sea, one of the world's busiest waterways, several parts of which is being claimed by China.
âWe continue to oppose Chinaâs dangerous use of coast guard and maritime militia in the South China Sea and its repeated obstruction of countriesâ high seas freedom of navigation and we express serious concern about the increasing use of dangerous maneuvers and water cannons against Philippine vessels in this regard,â the G7 statement said.
The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal grouping of seven of the world's advanced economies, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union (EU).
