I’m glad people are opening their eyes to mass surveillance. But please be aware that your phone does the same exact thing.
Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely against Flock cameras and the idea of mass surveillance. It’s a complete violation of our 4th amendment here in the United States. It needs to be stopped before we have a social credit system, similar to that in China.
But you need to know your cell phones have been doing the same thing for well over a decade, except even more intrusive. This isn’t some weirdo conspiracy theory, this is all verifiable not only through legislation, but through regular local cases. Your cell phone is constantly pinging data that is used to track your location. Your cell phone connects to multiple phone towers at the same time, which are everywhere. The signal strength is also recorded at the cell towers, therefore by using the signal strength of multiple towers, the federal government can very easily triangulate your location. Let alone, connecting to ANY WiFi network is logging your exact location, that includes your home WiFi, your local coffee shop WiFi, when you’re at your job, when you’re at the airport, everywhere. The connected devices get logged to the modem/router, that information is readily accessible by the internet service provider, who cooperates with any federal requests. Your cell phone is with you at all times because it’s becoming almost impossible living without one, and it’s essentially the tracker for the federal government. Your cell phone can still transmit data even when it’s turned off, and you can no longer physically remove the power source from it, because the batteries are hard wired in and no longer removable. Just watch any murder documentary or crime YouTube channel and pay attention to how they catch the killer.
What makes it even more invasive is that it’s not only your location, but it’s what you search for, your browsing habits, and your activity levels. Once again, think about any murder documentary or crime YouTube channel. They will always reference what suspects searched for and at what time. Do you think it’s because they forgot to use incognito mode? No, everything is permanent and is recorded. Then add in lovely algorithm models that can profile, such as Palantir, and they know you better than you know you. You are a datapoint and they know absolutely everything about you. The US government already has multiple contracts with Palantir. Let alone ECHELON is a known program that listens to every phone call for “trigger words” to “help identify terrorists”. Sure, maybe, but all that means is that they’re listening to everything.
Flock are just the obvious spooky spy cameras in your neighborhood. You have been tracked for a very long time, long before they put the cameras up. The Patriot Act by George Bush Jr in 2001 was the first formal green light to violate your privacy and your freedom. Obama renewed the Patriot Act in 2010 and 2011. Then he walked it back and pretended to care about your privacy by scaling back the Patriot Act with the USA Freedom Act in 2015, while simultaneously and secretly signing in the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act in 2015 which expanded the reach of what the Patriot Act initially described, because smart phones really broke the mold of what was intended.
None of these politicians care about you. None of these politicians care about your safety. None of these politicians care about your privacy. They continue to roll in new legislation to “preserve the safety of the American people”, all at the expense of you just giving away a little bit of your privacy, one tiny bit at a time. “If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about, this is just to catch the bad guys” is how it started, now you’re a data point in an algorithm and you’re no longer able to go pick up a snack at the store without it being recorded somewhere. Don’t trust the government. Left wing, right wing, both part of the same bird. The left vs right conflict is very carefully designed to make you turn against your fellow citizens, because a divided nation cannot sustain resistance against overreach. They have carefully designed a good cop, bad cop scenario for the American people. It’s so well designed, that the good cop for one group is the bad cop for the other group, and vice versa. Find common ground with your fellow citizens, they are not the enemy, they just have different worldviews.
Nothing I said is tin foil hat conspiracy theorist nonsense (at least except the last handful of sentences, which was my opinion). You can verify everything else in here yourself.
Be mad at Flock. But don’t let it distract you from all of the worse infringements on your privacy. #politics source
