Hi, new to this sub, but I’ve been in construction for a decade or so.
Re-siding a home in new England that has serious exposure to easterly weather and found that all the Andersen Perma-shield casement windows, installed around 2003, have dramatically rotten sills.
It seems like a terrible design, or at least not the right window for the application - the hardware for the hinges/arms fastens through the vinyl coating and into the wooden frame, which, with time, has rotted completely.
Has anyone else experienced this with these particular windows? Any clever ideas as to how they could possibly be saved? Thanks in advance. #industry
