Women in the trades: how do you deal with constant low-level sexual harassment? And men, I'd genuinely like your perspective too.
I'm the only woman on my site, and I really enjoy the job itself.
I'm not talking about extreme harassment, but the constant low-level behaviour: colleagues repeatedly asking you out after you've said no, lingering handshakes, pet names, comments that remind you you're seen as a woman first and a coworker second (if that).
This week was especially frustrating. I made the biggest progress on the job out of the whole team, but that wasn't acknowledged. Instead, after work, a colleague cornered me to ask why I keep saying no to going out with him. I am so angry with myself because I started explaining how difficult it is to be the only woman on site and how dumb it would be of me to go out with anyone from work, because I was scared of hurting this guy's feelings so I wouldn't have to deal with a bruised ego after. On top of it, I keep sharing my feelings because in a way I continue having expectations that maybe some men will try to put themselves in my position but sadly the more honest I am the more likely guys think I like them.
How do you handle this? Have you found ways to set boundaries that actually work while maintaining good working relationships?
Why is it so difficult for some men to see a female coworker as just another coworker? Is it something they don't even realise they're doing, or is there another perspective I'm missing? Is there something wrong I am doing that somehow sends the wrong signals?

Helmet of Maximus Decimus Meridius
I made this helmet inspired by the cult Ridley Scott film. It's one of the first things I made myself, and things like this motivated me to pick up welding and create something. Maybe not my own, but something with soul. The steel is 2 mm thick, the model was created and unwrapped in a peracurate oven. Welding is TIG, a little hammering, a little grinding... A little clumsy handwork and it's done. Spaniard!!!!

Where are all the wastewater superintendents?
I'm trying to fill a Superintendent role in Georgia and I'm surprised how difficult it's been.
Looking for someone with 2+ years as a Superintendent and wastewater experience. Compensation is around **$120k** \- **$150k**. Is this a fair range?
For those of you in the industry, where do supers usually look when they're open to making a move? Or do most just wait for recruiters to reach out?
Feels like all the good ones are already employed, so any insight would be appreciated.

UK, will Burnhams new education reforms will completely fuck over construction salaries, within the next 5 years ?
I'm not really that bothered if it happens past that 5 years. I'm just worried about the next 5 years and I know it could take years before these reforms even start to happen (idk maybe 2) which I guess will mean more time foe the new school set top be trained up ?
I'm looking to get into slinging, I'm no economist, but isn't the reason that construction can pay quite well in the UK (maybe not entry-level Labouring jobs but more specialised stuff)
is because there is a shortage of workers ? ( i know there is probably a lot of other factors at work, maybe some more important, idk ?) and I know the demand in construction can grow alongside, which maybe could prevent it ?
So wouldn't for more specialised roles like slingers or bulldozer operators or a cladder, etc, ..end up with decreased payments ?
Now I know I might seem like a selfish dickhead, especially as someone who is still a unemployed loser and only recently got he's CSCS card but obviously long term wise I need too look after my on interests, nobody else will give a fuck or pitty me and hand me free money in this life.
Is anyone else worried, or I'm I just a paranoid crazy person who is thinking too far into the future ? (Very possible)

New firewood storage
Added another 13 feet of firewood storage. I already had 20 feet plus another 20 feet up the driveway. I found some cheap I beam on Marketplace and used that. As with most things I build, it’s totally overkill. I’m not going to paint it, I’ll just let it get a nice rust patina. It was crazy hot welding in the sun and I hate welding with the sun behind my hood because I can’t easily see my bead.
