YSK: It's no longer the 1940s, nuclear power is literally the safest power source known to humanity
Why YSK: From both passive and active failsafes nuclear engineers have been developing and refining safety procedures literally since the inception of
"neutron reactors". Nuclear reactors are well maintained, the waste is properly stored (vitrified into a solid glass) and aside from the accidents everyone knows about, have prevented large radioactive material leaks into the environment.
Even the waste from plutonium production during the Manhattan Project is being disposed of.
We should be expanding nuclear capacities, rather than build out unreliable wind and solar power or subsidize fossil fuels). Even if it takes a decade, the power (and industrial waste heat) will be well worth the effort.
