What can I do to not feel so alienated at my new job?
I started working at this UPS warehouse job about a month ago and can’t seem to connect with anybody yet. Majority of my co workers have been on the job for a good number of years, so talking to them feels intimidating as a new guy. At times, I feel separate from everyone as they talk amongst themselves and those they’re more familiar with, while I’m off on my phone, staring into the distance, or just walking away to a corner. I do occasionally ask for help on stuff (being the new guy and all), but no conversation beyond that ever seems to happen. Maybe I give off this anti-social vibe that steers them away? I just dont want to be working in a sort of job where I don’t at least try to talk to or jive with some of the others. I do want to make an effort here so any advice would be greatly appreciate!
