Is hwy 50 in Nevada really as lonely as they say?

I'm considering taking a road trip this summer w my young teen daughter (she doesn't drive yet). It would just be a mother and daughter trip so the driving would just be on me. I would be coming from San Francisco bay area. I want to drive to salt lake City. I was planning on staying overnight somewhere in Nevada.

I know i80 is probably the fastest way but everyone is saying how boring it is ? I hear hwy 50 is more scenic and interesting and can be really pretty driving at night.

For the record I plan to do day driving only and I can't really handle steep cliffs and winding roads I get severe anxiety doing them.

I've been reading about hwy 50 being the "loneliest road in America". Out of sheer curiosity, is that exagerrated or how true is it ? Is it true you can go for miles without seeing any life or gas stations or restaurants or rest stops? I find that both enthralling and frightening

Also I have a question about i80 way...is it isolated too? Or are there stops ?
