I am hoping someone can help me with at decision. As a background, I have several pairs of hiking shoes and use trail runners as my go to shoe (Saucony Peregrine). I am climbing Kilimanjaro next year and they are recommending waterproof hiking boots.
I have Merril Moab 2's that are not waterproof. I have used waterproof socks with my trail runners, and it was great with over 200 river crossings in New Mexico.
I am concerned that the Merril's with waterproof sock won't be the same or enough for the Kili hike. Does anyone have experience using waterproof socks with a medium weight hiking boot for cool to cold (but not snowy I am told) conditions? Should I just bite the bullet and get yet another pair of hiking boots? #activity #nature source
