Carlos Alcaraz saved match points before beating Taylor Fritz at the Laver Cup in London, extending Team Europe’s lead over Team World. 🎾
The win came during Alcaraz’s second competitive event since he returned in August from a right-wrist injury that had sidelined him from April. He had already helped Europe take a 3–1 opening-day lead by partnering Jakub Menšík to a doubles victory over Fritz and Alexander Bublik.
The Laver Cup is decided by team points rather than individual rankings: Friday wins count for one point, Saturday wins for two and Sunday wins for three. The first side to 13 points wins. ⚡
Alcaraz entered the event with a strong record against the Team World field, but Europe had lost the 2025 edition 15–9. The London competition is scheduled to conclude on 27 September.
