I’m a beginner at the piano (CDI-S160) and I already have a book that guides me through new chords, hand-independence training techniques, elements of score notation, practice pieces, and basic music-theory concepts (the difference between quavers and quarter notes, time signatures such as 4/4 and 3/4 so far), and so on. I’m self-taught.
At times I notice some difficulty in reading the notes quickly enough, in recognizing them at times (understandable when you’re just starting out), and in moving my hands freely on the keyboard without looking down while reading the score (I don’t yet have much confidence with the “geography” of the keyboard).
I’m looking for various videos to gather advice and techniques, especially for sight-reading. Online, of course, I’m stocking up on texts such as *Bartók’s Mikrokosmos* and *Czerny, The First Piano Teacher*.
I can devote, on average, about 3½–4 hours per week to practice, but I don’t really know how to distribute that time to work on the different areas that need improvement (hand independence, familiarity with the score and the keyboard, etc.), or which aspects deserve priority, especially in these first months of approaching the instrument. Any advice? #audio #music source
