The US war on Iran is not only for Israel.
There exists a variety of explanations on why USA decided to go full bore on Iran in conjunction with Israel. A popular one is that the Zionist lobby holds an outsized influence over the US government and were able to coerce the Trump ADM to launch the war at the behest of Israel. I too find this quite self evident considering the characters that surround the US 'President' but the only reason? Probably not.
It can be boiled down to two words: Energy Dominance
The over arching US goal has always been to secure dominion over the middle east and crucially it's energy. After the collapse of the USSR the unrestrained USA was able to concentrate their full might to this project. Iran is simply the last piece on the board and with it's fall the Persian gulf would become defacto Gulf of America.
The objective of the war on Iran was total capitulation of the Iranian state but "Epic Fury" turned into an enormous flop. Despite high level assassinations and destruction of police and Basij (militia) capabilities the population rallied behind the government. Perhaps Iran had succeeded in sufficiently purging the CIA/Mossad network that supercharged the economic riots of Jan 2026. Even worse Iran was able to deliver severe punishment on US assets in the region both military and economic.
I kept wondering why doesn't US concede defeat and restore the flow of traffic in the Gulf?
This operational defeat does not necessarily translate into a strategic one. With the cutoff of the strait of Hormuz USA has been transformed into the worlds largest energy exporter overnight and has the capacity to further draw down it's strategic reserve for over a year still at the current rate. Additionally capital is now flowing into the new viceroyalty of Venezuela since the increase in oil prizes has made it's further development viable.
During the interim US will likely increase it's piracy in the high seas. The seizure of Russian and Iranian cargo is already a norm and this will be extended to any state that refuses to conform to US demands whatever they may be.

TLDR. USA is 'reshoring' energy production to the Americas while disrupting it everywhere else.
