Me and three friends from uni are planning a road trip starting from Munich. We're looking to head out around mid September and spend about a week on the road. The route we've got so far is Munich → Innsbruck → Dolomites → Lake Garda → back through Salzburg and Hallstatt before heading home. We figured going clockwise through Austria and northern Italy would save us from backtracking too much.
We've been going through a ton of guides and travel posts to prepare and I think we've got the essentials covered. A friend recommended getting a car fridge so we ordered one to keep drinks and food cold on the way. It's been solid so far, but we'll see how it does after hours on the road. We stopped by MediaMarkt and picked up a phone mount and a car charger so we don't run out of battery mid-navigation. For neck pillows, I've been using one for years whenever I fly on long trip. I was already planning to get everyone a neck pillow and happened to find them on sale on tiktok. One of my friends grabbed a first aid kit and some travel-size toiletries at dm. For snacks we all went to the supermarket together and stocked up.
Is mid September a good time for this route? We've done a lot of research and looked through a bunch of guides together, but at the end of the day this is our first real road trip and none of us actually know what we're doing. Would really appreciate any advice from the veterans out there. #activities #travel source
