Michael Keaton's "Batman" is better than Christopher Nolan's Batman
As a kid, Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" was probably one of the best movies I had ever seen. It actually had the impact of Nolan's "The Dark Knight," but for different reasons. "Batman Returns" had the dark gravity of Batman while also having vivid moments of levity and charm through it's villains. Cat-woman was an amazing presence on-screen. Danny DeVito's "Penguin" was immortal.
*"I played this city like a harp from hell."*
I found myself liking the world and characters of "Batman Returns" a lot more than I did the characters in "The Dark Knight." The reason I like "the Dark Knight" is because Heath Ledger's Joker is somewhat terrifying the first time you see him. Not run-in-your-closet terrifying, but he just hit the screen in a way you didn't see a movie villain do before.
But if I had to choose...I would choose Michael Keaton's "Batman Returns" as the better movie. It didn't hit as hard...but it's the more memorable one for me. #conversation
