Need some advice regarding two opportunities within the same company that have been proposed to me. I recently applied to a position for a manufacturing line operator, had an interview and got a call back asking if I would be interested in another position of assistant supervisor. While I am trying to leave retail management this position seems more demanding yet. The line operator is a part of a union (this will be my first time working in a union) and seems to offer nice benefits and historical $1 a year wage increases. Base pay is $28 an hour till your training period is over then you receive a $1.50 increase so $29.50 once competent in your role. Management side is non union and the pay range they provide was $65,000-$80,000 a year. I know this place works major overtime and the operator position is seniority based so lots of ot and ot opportunities. I have an interview coming up for the management side but I assume not quite as much ot required. My question is it worth taking the management position for realistically $1-$3 more dollars an hour(depending on actual base hourly pay)? Sounds like there is opportunity to advance both within the union and outside of it in management too. It almost seems like a no brainer taking the union roll, less stress and good pay but wanted to hear some opinions on it. #business source
